The Commission is located at Thiruvananthapuram. The Government of Kerala started the recruitment of civil service officers in the year 2013. The first recruitment notification for the recruitment of civil service officers was released by the Kerala Public Service Commission on 30 August 2013. The second recruitment notification of 2013 was released on 7 February 2014. Job vacancies in the Kerala Civil Service which includes the excise and excise duties are to be filled up by the Commission in three groups, viz., Group A, Group B and Group C. The first two groups require two years of previous service in the department while the third group, Group C, requires three years. Those who are selected by the Commission from among the applicants for Group A are to be considered for appointment at the grade of the vacant post to which they are chosen. There is also provision for Special Grade Central Government Officers (SCG) and Group B and C officers in case the number of applicants are insufficient. Civil Services Group A: Stable Performance Unit The first selection round of Civil Service is conducted for the posts of Junior Administrative Grade, Junior Executive Grade and Junior Judicial Grade. This is the stable performance unit (SPU). The posts are on contract basis. The performance review for this is done at the end of the period for which the post is on contract. Candidates who are unable to achieve the targets in the contract period, face dismissal. Group B: Group B Group B comprises the posts of Executive Grade, Judicial Grade, Armed Forces/Judicial Service, Subordinate Courts and other categories of Group B posts. The grade for the posts of Junior Administrative Grade is the same as that for Group A posts. Group C: Group C Group C comprises the post of Assistant Government Officials/Principal Assistant Secretaries and Assistant Adjudication Officers.
